Articles, copywriting and language audits, English and Danish

Specialties:

The use of good language is an art – and a good rendering from one language to another is an equally demanding exercise. I have two native tongues and can deliver high-quality articles, brochure copy, web content etc. in English, Danish or both.

If you need English and Danish versions of the same text - for a leaflet, perhaps, or a magazine article - I can deliver two idiomatic texts of exactly the same length, so that they will fit the same layout.

It´s my experience that when I´m translating a text that I´ve written myself, both versions tend to undergo improvement in the process. While I´m translating, expressions turn up that can also be applied to the original text.

I was born and raised in the US, educated at the Danish School of Journalism in the city of Århus and have many years´ experience as a Danish-language newspaper reporter. Over the years I´ve done a number of translations as a sideline; most recently I have written a number of Danish and English articles for the pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk (see more background under “CV").

As a journalist, I was one of the first in Denmark to cultivate narrative journalism, in which literary techniques are used to tell an authentic story. In 2001 I was awarded a national prize for my first narrative series, and I have also written and given talks about this journalistic genre. I also happen to believe that the narrative style can be remarkably effective in communicating a company´s vision to its employees (see"Narrative journalism").
